David sang the National Anthem this morning on the steps of Utah’s State Capitol. With temperatures in the mid-20s, David warmed up the inaugural crowd with his soul-stirring, heartfelt vocals. When David sings “The Star-Spangled Banner” he gives its one and a half octaves the DA treatment, which means that no orchestration is required. David provides both vocal and music.

Lyrics of first stanza:
O! say can you see by the dawn’s early light
What so proudly we hailed at the twilight’s last gleaming.
Whose broad stripes and bright stars through the perilous fight,
O’er the ramparts we watched were so gallantly streaming.
And the rockets’ red glare, the bombs bursting in air,
Gave proof through the night that our flag was still there.
Oh, say does that star-spangled banner yet wave
O’er the land of the free and the home of the brave?

Oh! I love how and what David does to this song. It’s amazing to me how just his voice is ENOUGH!!!!! And that coat… he took it off when he sang the National Anthem but he was warming up in it earlier and he looked so “SHARP”!!! Don’t you think!?
