Songs As David Archuleta begins a new chapter in his music career—with his sophomore pop album due in September—our Song of the Week column starts a new chapter as well. Since the beginning on 4 August 2009, Song of the Week has been written by Katie, better known among DA fans as bigarchiefan. She wrote about a David Archuleta song every week for nearly a year, every one both a labor of love and a joyful task. Starting with David’s first single, “Crush” and finishing up with David’s latest single, “Something ’bout Love,” Katie always gave us interesting information, a unique perspective, and her heartfelt opinion. While she will always be a huge DA fan, she will no longer write the weekly column.
In gratitude, DA Buzzing would like to honor Katie for creating a great body of work, which will be maintained on this website. Personally, I want to thank Katie for making my job as her editor so easy and rewarding. She is one of the first DA fans I met on the now-defunct Hey!Nielsen website, and she was always warm, friendly, and kind. Even though we have never met in person, I feel as though I know her and I truly value her friendship.
Katie will continue to participate on DA Buzzing, just not on a weekly schedule. I’m sure all the DA fans and Honeybees, in particular, wish her all the best! You’ll find links to all the Songs of the Week below; bookmark this page and return to read and listen to them all at your leisure.

Katie,
Thank you for all the time and effort you so wonderfully shared for the readers of dabuzzing!
I do not post often but I very much enjoyed reading about each ‘Song Of The Week’ for the extra info and interesting details that you included!
Great job!!
Katie, Thank you so much for all the beautiful articles you have written over the last year. I was ALWAYS amazed at all the information you packed into your column each week, you really went all out with your research and I know I learned much from you. Your posts will be missed so I hope you will blog occasionally on anything David related. Take care, Kim.
Katie, it was with sadness that I read you will no longer write the column for Song of the Week. I thoroughly enjoyed time spent reading/listening to your posts. Although I have been busy this past year with family in Italy, unable to spend time as before on DA Buzzing, the time I have spent has always been full of joy.
Thank you so much for your amazing insight into the songs that David sings. I will continue to read and re-read your brilliant columns of the past year. What an amazing achievement!
I trust we will always be united through David Archuleta’s music and DA Buzzing. Grand kudos!
Thank you, Katie, for your dedication and devotion to DA Buzzing. Fifty-one straight weeks? Wow! We are fortunate to have you as a Honeybee, and David Archuleta is lucky to have you as a fan.
In addition to posting a weekly column here at DA Buzzing, what many of my fellow Honeybees probably don’t realize is that Katie was also a busy bee during the Hey! Nielsen days working behind the scenes to help our Queen Bee, Minna, form what would become our core group in the beginning.
Katie, I owe you a big debt of gratitude for your tireless work on behalf of David and for your sunny disposition throughout. I echo Minna’s sentiments in regarding you as a friend.
Thanks to everyone for all the kind comments about our dear Katie! Katheryn, I’m so glad you told everyone how wonderful Katie was on Hey!Nielsen. When my messaging duties became overwhelming, she volunteered to help. She took over the task of combing H!N for new members and sending them a welcome message and explaining some of the esoteric rules. Such as: a plus 5 and a negative 5 rating had the same “buzz” impact, so we discouraged fans from bad-mouthing other singers and their fan group.
All of David Archuleta fans do whatever we can to help spread the news about him and his incredible voice. Some fans like Katie go beyond the ‘call of duty’ and truly make their efforts a labor of love. Her bright, sunny outlook on life certainly came through in her “Song of the Week,” and was a perfect match for our ever-positive and strong vocal genius. Katie helped us understand why we all love David so much.
A big heartfelt “THANK YOU” to you all, for the kind things you have said here. Writing the “Song of the Week” was a real labor of love as well as a joy and a pleasure. I truly love ‘buzzing’ about our favorite singer, David Archuleta. Though I will not be as busy as I have been in the past, I will never quit being a member of the hive… I will buzz as much as I am able. 🙂
Minna, I am truly grateful for all the opportunities you have given me. You have become a dear and cherished friend, as so many of you have. That is a gift for which I must thank David. He and his music are the reason for it all.
Again, thank you all so much. You have helped to make the time I spent here so much fun. I will be in touch! 😉
As always, take care everyone!
