MasterClass Lady says it better than I ever could. “Vocal prodigy, David Archuleta, made another triumphant return to the American Idol stage during Season 9’s Top 9 Results Show on April 7th.”
I was so happy to see David at the piano during tonight’s performance of his masterful “Imagine” written by John Lennon and inspired by Eva Cassidy. And his new haircut reminds me a little bit of my own Beatlemania days!

I think this version was closer to John’s version. I actually liked it better when he sang Eva’s version, but perhaps David is feeling that at this point he should be trying to put his own stamp on a song. I give him huge credit for adding his own touches. I think when he was on Idol last season he got a lot of credit and benefit from the arrangement, when it wasn’t his. He didn’t claim it was his version, but people assumed. He went out of his way to give Eva credit in many of his later interviews and performances. Really have to be impressed by a kid that would put so much effort into making sure someone else got credit. He’s humble, he’s honest, and ,oh yeah, he’s a wonderful singer.
Thanks for your comment, Jenna. I was so happy to see David at the piano last night. John Lennon used both piano and guitar when he sang “Imagine.” As for crediting Eva, I think that had more to do with Idol’s format than with any oversight on David’s part. He was just 13 when he first performed the Eva-inspired “Imagine” on Utah television.
