David Archuleta to Record New Album en Español?
by Michael Lopez, Blogamole
29 September 2010

We love hearing about music artists getting in touch with their Latin roots. So what if they’re not native Spanish speakers, the fact that they are interested in reciprocating the love to their Latino fans is good enough for us. And now pop star David Archuleta’s talking about belting out his next batch of hits en Español!

In a phone interview with HitFix.com, David mentioned, “I really wanna do a Spanish album. I have that Latin culture background. It’s a part of me. I’m not the best Spanish speaker, but I have a longing to connect with that. I just think how supportive the Latin community has been, even during ‘Idol.’ I’d like to give back with something like that.” Pretty awesome news! Although it may take a little while until we hear his big Spanish debut. Right now David’s got his hands full with the release of his second big record, titled The Other Side Of Down.

David Archuleta and Alison Sudol Meet-up

30 September 2010

Idolator's Meet-up of David Archuleta and Alison SudolPop singers tend to be busy people. But that’s no reason for them to lose out on the chance to meet new friends who share common interests — even if those friends are also busy pop singers. Which is why we recently took it upon ourselves to introduce two amazing artists who didn’t know each other, but should. We arranged a visit between the velvety smooth singer David Archuleta and the sprightly songbird Alison Sudol, who performs as A Fine Frenzy. (We genuinely had no idea at the time, but she inspired the title track on his new album, The Other Side Of Down)….

DA David Archuleta Song of the Week

27 September 2010

by

Songs As we anticipate the October 5 release of David Archuleta’s new album, The Other Side of Down, I have been reviewing a few of the ‘oldies’, but still golden. When David’s eponymous debut album was released in November 2008, a few songs didn’t make the CD, but were released instead as bonus tracks. The Song of the Week is the kind of song David will be most famous for: lyrical and meaningful tunes sung in his unique soulful and ‘organic’ style.

by David Archuleta

Can you Tap Dance to “Somebody Out There”?

For once I’m glad David Archuleta can’t tap-dance, because instead of an impromptu tap to kill time during a technical malfunction, he gave the Memphis audience this stirring performance of “Somebody Out There.” It seems that SOT was meant to be a bonus track in more ways than one.

Somebody Out There…is Clueless

by Rascal at The David Chronicles.com
12 November 2008

…there has been broad consensus across the fan community that “Somebody Out There” is easily one of the best releases from David’s first major recording effort. It is in my top three. How, then, to account for the fact that one of the most satisfying songs has been subjected to the least amount of distribution? This track is currently unavailable for purchase anywhere. Not on a hard CD, not on a download. Can’t buy it….

snarky janey, fan comment

from iTunes

The writing team of Archuleta-Krompass is a dynamic one. In a short time they had produced four compositions. 2 are now available on itunes, the third, just introduced this month on David’s sold-out solo tour is a crowd favorite and the fourth is secretively stowed away. This is a sweet song, to the point with heartfelt simple lyrics showcased by David’s silky smooth vocals. Buy it. you’ll love it.

Congratulations to a talented and gracious artist. My favorite songs are “Somebody Out There”, “Waiting for Yesterday”, “My Hands” and “Zero Gravity” . Honestly whatever David sings is a favorite. Go see him if you haven’t had the privilege yet. He is AMAZING!!!

…Meanwhile, David, still just 19, took time out of his busy schedule Tuesday to talk to Idol Chatter about his new album…

Idol Chatter: I interviewed you last December and, at that time, you said you wanted to put more of yourself in the second album. Do you feel like you accomplished that, and why?

David: I do, actually. I am actually really happy about that. The lyrics are just a lot more in tune with who I am as a person. I think (they will allow) a lot of people to connect with the more thoughtful and the lighter, goofier side of me….

New David Bio!

With budding maturity, David Archuleta captures two years’ worth of introspection and reflection, dozens of songwriting sessions, long days spent in the studio and nights in the air, all leading to The Other Side of Down, his highly anticipated second album. Not only the follow up to David’s 2008 self-titled debut, it’s a reintroduction to the American Idol runner-up with the angelic voice who 30 million television viewers fell in love with during season 7—now older, wiser, with faith still on his side and an eternally optimistic wide-eyed outlook. Hence, the album’s title. “For me, it’s about moving forward and making progress,” David explains. “I’m heading towards ‘the other side of down,’ which is ‘up….’”

A Warning to Little Old Ladies! David Archuleta recently tweeted, “A cute little old white-haired lady comes up and pokes me. ‘I just needed to touch you so I could tell my granddaughters.’ haha” (8:52 PM Sep 21st via txt) Now I’d like to issue an official DA Buzzing warning to all the fans, especially the little old ladies who will do (almost) anything for their grandkids. It’s OK to shake David’s hand, it’s acceptable to tap him on the shoulder, it might even be possible to give the famous singer a little hug, but whatever you do, don’t…

Don’t pinch his cheeks! There are too many little old ladies out there and if enough of them pinched David’s cheeks, he might look like this Photo of the Week—permanently!!

DA David Archuleta Song of the Week

20 September 2010

by

Songs David Archuleta has released a new single to radio. It’s called “Elevator” and was co-written by David with Shelly Peiken and David’s guitarist Mike Krompass. This week I’ve chosen another song from the hand of the very talented Mr. Krompass. Even though this song was not included on the standard album, David Archuleta, it was a huge favorite among fans during David’s 2009 concert tours.

“Zero Gravity”
by David Archuleta

“Zero Gravity”

If I’m ever suspended in an Elevator, I hope the experience is akin to Zero Gravity. I’ll be happy if both songs are piped in while I wait for my rescue.

“Zero Gravity” snapshot

  • Written by Shelly Peiken, David Archuleta, and Mike Krompass
  • First performed live by David Archuleta on 25 February 2009 at Virginia Beach (video below)
  • “Due to Popular Demand,” the song was released as a Fan Pack Bundle on i-Tunes in spring 2009

Hi Katie! Zero Gravity needs to be played every Monday! You can’t help but feel his energy on this one. I absolutely love it and as your video clips show he really grew to enjoy it as much as the fans. I always have to jump when I hear it…bad knees and all! Excellent choice Katie to help get us though another work and school week!

Violet, fan comment

from Amazon.com
23 November 2009

David Archuleta and Mike Krompass wrote Zero Gravity for David’s first album but it was one of the later submissions and didn’t make it onto the album. Fans had heard the name of the song but not the song itself. And then on David’s Spring 2009 tour, at the first concert, David premiered this song and the audience went wild. Zero Gravity joined the set list for all of David’s 2009 pop tours including his OK tour opening for McFly. This is a song that is really super live and it gets everybody jumping. Very catchy song too!
