Songs It has been a very busy last few days, as I have been celebrating the Christmas holiday with family and friends. We have been gathering around the tree to exchange and open gifts. We have enjoyed listening to traditional Christmas carols and singing along to all our favorites (David’s renditions being tops among those ;)) and most importantly we have truly loved spending time with the special people in our lives.
These past few days have been full of laughter, traditions, surprises, good food and drink, and lots of wonderful moments spent with those that mean the most to me. It is times such as these that will become the special memories that I will hold so dear in the future. Of course this all leads me to the song of the week, because the song I am thinking of talks about all the very special and meaningful things we as families do around the holiday season.
The Song of the Week is…
“Melodies of Christmas”
“Melodies of Christmas” was co-written by David Archuleta with Z. Picante for his first Christmas album, Christmas from the Heart, which was released on October 13, 2009. It was produced and arranged by Jeff Archuleta and Sam Cardon for JIVE Records. It is the only original Christmas track on the album. David reportedly told MTV News during an interview, shortly after the release of the album, that working on an original Christmas tune came quite naturally to him. He is quoted as saying. “It all happened so fast that I didn’t really think about it! I mean, that was the last song we worked on and recorded. And it was all pretty much a rush.” No matter the rush, David, it is a beautiful and very heartfelt song!
Here is David Archuleta’s song “Melodies of Christmas” from his holiday album, Christmas from the Heart:

(Beautiful, and he is so sweet as well! )
Lyrics for Melodies Of Christmas:
There’s something in the melodies,
That the Christmas season brings,
Joy and Laughter in the air,
Smiling faces everywhere,Old familiar melodies,
Bring back special memories,
They remind us,
They remind us.Merrily the choirs sound,
Spreading Christmas joy around,
Filling hearts with cheer,
May it last through all the year,Happy Christmas Melodies,
Bring back faded memories,
They remind us,
They remind us.CHORUS
Join us and sing,
The sound of heav’n an’ nature ring,
With family, Rockin’ round the Christmas tree,
Carols of old, of the greatest Story ever told.Sing the Melodies of Christmas
Sing the Melodies of ChristmasThere’s something about the melodies,
Of Santa Claus and Christmas Trees,
Favorite songs by Nat and Bing,
Elvis, Josh and Celine. It’s a special time of year,
Bringing Friends and Family near,
To remind us,
of Love and Kindness.CHORUS
There’s a message you will find,
Peace and Happiness to all mankind,
in the melodies, an offering,
of the love that flows from the Heavenly King.Raise your voice,
Let us Sing,
It’s the message that these songs can bring,
Round the fire, round the tree,
Singing carols merrily.Merry Christmas,
Merry Christmas,One more melody to sing at Christmas,
One more memory of Christmas cheer.Old familiar melodies,
Bring back special memories,Filling hearts with Christmas cheer,
May it last through all the year,Something in the melodies,
That the Christmas season brings,Joy and Laughter in the air,
Smiling faces everywhere,Happy Christmas Melodies,
Bring back faded memories.
I want to wish everyone a very safe and “Happy New Year!” 🙂
Take care all, Katie

Thanks, Katie! And wishing you the very best this holiday season. 😀
My memory of this Christmas will always be a Christmas from the Heart of David Archuleta! His album of carols and the holiday tour made for some great memories “round the fire, round the tree”. Thanks, Katie, for choosing a thematic song for the final Song of the Week for 2009! May all of you Angels and Honeybees have a good New Year’s celebration and get ready for another fab year as a DA fan!
