Today David Archuleta wrote on Twitter, “On this memorial day it’s so important to remember all of the brave men and women who gave their lives because they believed in life, liberty, and all the amazing freedoms we all have in this great country that we live in today. I hope we can all pause a bit from our activities to remember them and give thanks to each soldier who has fought, and to those who are out there today…as well as their families who’ve sacrificed so much for each of us. Let’s keep them and their families in our prayers! We owe them so much. Happy Memorial Day guys! Hope you enjoy whatever things you have going on with friends and family!”

In Flanders Field
by Lieutenant Colonel John McCrae, MD (1872-1918)
Canadian ArmyIn Flanders Fields the poppies blow
Between the crosses row on row,
That mark our place; and in the sky
The larks, still bravely singing, fly
Scarce heard amid the guns below. We are the Dead. Short days ago
We lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow,
Loved and were loved, and now we lie
In Flanders fields.Take up our quarrel with the foe:
To you from failing hands we throw
The torch; be yours to hold it high.
If ye break faith with us who die
We shall not sleep, though poppies grow
In Flanders fields.
