David Archuleta is certainly getting nice compliments from many singer-songwriters. Just today Omar Afuni twittered his admiration for David’s talent. It is wonderful to hear how many fellow artists admire David’s talent. Go to his My Space and read up on Omar Afuni.

Born on June 13th ’85, Omar Afuni (pronounced: Afyooni) is a singer-songwriter who believes he exists “to sing & make a difference in people’s lives with music.” He first got into music at age five when his uncle bought him a Casio toy keyboard. His mother noticed he could play by ear any song he heard on TV or the radio. Omar’s love for music grew with age and when he was 11 he decided to shift from playing an instrument to making his voice one.

Listening to legendary artists like Elton John, George Michael, Stevie Wonder & many endless others, Omar managed to train his voice & make it the best it could possibly be. Influences by more modern artists like Brian McKnight & JC Chasez took place as he grew older. He would sing for hours every day and try out new techniques, which he still does to this very day.

He began songwriting when he was 14 and by the age of 16 he had written & recorded his first song. Omar has now written enough songs to fill several albums; the songs showcase how much he has grown over the years as an artist.

He says, “My music is very personal & honest, I don’t write lyrics unless I’m in a certain state of mind or feeling something. I think it’s really important to reach out to people through music and make them feel like they’re not alone in this world. Music is a very powerful tool and I plan on using it positively.”
